Online Instructional Support
Students expect the use of technology (e.g. Power Point, Blackboard, streaming video) to be part of their learning experience. And, many community colleges are hiring full-time faculty members with strong skills in instructional technology. To remain current in today's educational environment, faculty should have expertise in the use of instructional technology.

The Center for Instructional Design and Distance Education (CIDDE) is designed to provide
instructional support to all faculty and staff in the areas of Blackboard, web design, faculty profiles,
and online classes. The Center has 25-computer stations and two state-of-the-art media stations
enclosed in soundproof booths for video development and pod-casting. In addition to the
computers, the Center contains document scanners, slide scanners, digital cameras and laptops for
faculty use. Digital cameras and laptops are available for faculty to check out on a limited basis.
Training in Technology
Teaching Full Online Course
In response to limited classroom facilities, the current economy, and the greater need for flexible
work schedule, the division will be increasing its number of full online classes. As we create
new online courses, it is our goal to maintain a vibrant learning experience for our students.
Training in Teaching Full Online Courses
Saddleback College - one-on-one and group training on teaching online classes through the
Center for Instructional Design and Distance Education

Technology is a support and not a substitute for the faculty's role in creating
a dynamic, meaningful, and interactive learning experience for students.
