Student Film Contest Winners
The Saddleback College Student Film Contest gave all students an opportunity
to write, direct, produce, and edit an original promotional video to give
prospective students an idea of what it's like to be a student at Saddleback
College. The top prize was $500, second place took home $250 and third was
awarded $150. The college’s Marketing Committee judged the entries
and selected the winners based on educational value, entertainment value,
quality, and college representation.
Saddleback College students Negar Sammaknejad, Michael Switzer, Toni Marano
and Shane Taylor took first, second and third prizes, respectively.
About the Winners -
The winning video was created by Community Arts students Negar Sammaknejad,
a San Clemente resident, and Michael Switzer, an Irvine resident. Sammaknejad
said she plans on going into documentary filmmaking and Switzer would like
to be a TV or film editor. The collaboration produced a video that was well
edited and showed the creative offerings of Saddleback College.
Coming in a close second is Toni Marano, a Laguna Niguel resident who is
planning on opening a production company with a fellow Saddleback College
film student. Her film was chosen for its portrayal of Saddleback faculty
and the variety of classes offered on campus.
The third place video was submitted by Shane Taylor, an Aliso Viejo resident
and post-production major, Taylor’s film was described by his instructor
as a “Saturday Night Live skit” and had the selection committee
laughing the whole was through. |
