Hi, I am Rachel Ridnor and I joined the associate faculty of Saddleback College in Fall 2007. I have previously taught at the University of California, Irvine, Orange Coast College, and Golden West College. Currently I am teaching at Saddleback College and Orange Coast College.
I use many unique activities in my classroom. Such as doing social experiments, having change your mind debates, and etc. To show that sociology can be applied to daily life she uses popular media such as South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, The Chapelle Show, and much more to illustrate sociological points.
Sociology in the Media
Many of my students have shared how much they enjoy the application of media to sociology. This inspired me to create a Twitter to post interesting sociological links.
Some of my other hobbies include traveling (I am an addict and hope to make it to every continent one day!), hiking, exploring random places, practicing muay thai (Thai martial arts), cooking with my wonderful husband, reading, and gaming.
