What is Student Equity?
Student Equity is a state-supported policy that works towards creating equal opportunity for access, success, and transfer for groups historically underrepresented in higher education.
The California Community College Chancellor's office requires that the college must look at specific populations (American Indians or Alaskan natives, Asian or Pacific Islanders, Blacks, Hispanics, Whites, men, women, persons with disabilities, veterans, and foster youth) when analyzing disproportionate impact. Using the data provided by the Office of Planning, Research and Accreditation, Saddleback College has created a Student Equity Plan to identify and address barriers to academic success for students with the greatest need.
The three-year plan outlines activities that target the distinct needs of specific populations on our campus. By working towards closing achievement gaps Student Equity helps promotes overall student success.
