ABOUT THE
CLASS AND WHAT IT OFFERS
This course
is an excellent opportunity for students to receive college credit in the
vocational and major areas of study offered here at Saddleback College.
The class can assist students in a number of ways. A student who completes
the course and has very few college units can get a jump start in their
education. A student who has college credits can get closer to their
goal of transferring to a four year institution.
The APL
student receives a complete academic plan from Miki Mikolajczak and
ALSO an excellent boost in their self confidence and self esteem. By documenting
their prior learning experiences and putting them in a mini-portfolio for
evaluation by Saddleback professors, the APL student becomes aware
of the the many accomplishments and contributions they have made through
the years even though they do not have a college degree. It is important
to understand all general education requirements needed to transfer must
be taken; they cannot be challenged in the Assessment of Prior Learning
class.
For more about
our program, please check out our Policies and Guidelines
for awarding APL credit. Check out the current Saddleback College
Schedule to find out when
the class is meeting this semester.
