PICTURE YOURSELF AT UC BERKELEY

Due to budget limitations, UC Berkeley is not able to make any personal visits to community colleges this season. However, they have created a "one-stop" website for prospective students to discover what UC Berkeley has to offer and find out what it takes to become a Golden Bear. On this webpage, students can complete an interest form and receive login information for their own personalized webpage. Plus, their names will be added to the Admission's email list so they can receive event invitations, advising opportunities, and admissions news to help in their countdown to applying to Berkeley.

CSU EAST BAY ADMISSION PROCESSING GUIDELINES FOR THE 2010 WINTER, SPRING, AND FALL QUARTERS

Below is a quick reference sheet of reminders regarding Cal State East Bay’s Winter Quarter 2010, Spring Quarter 2010, and Fall Quarter 2010 admission processing guidelines.

Winter Quarter 2010

  • Transfer applicants must submit all required transcripts by the Dec. 1 document deadline including transcripts with Fall 2009 courses in progress. A final transcript with grades posted must be received by Jan. 15, 2010.
  • Student with coursework in-progress required for admission are not eligible to enroll in Winter classes until a final grade is received. Students may have a professor submit a Final Grade Report form once a final grade is available. This form can be faxed to (510) 885-3392 or hand carried in a sealed envelope to Cal State East Bay. Final Grade Report forms received before noon on Dec. 21 will be processed before the University closes for the holidays. A final transcript with grades posted must be received by Jan. 15, 2010.

Spring Quarter 2010

  • A very small number of Spring Quarter 2010 applications were accepted this year. Admission offers will be extended until capacity is met. Applicants are reviewed for admission when their file is complete (i.e. all required transcripts and related documents are received). For maximum consideration, students should submit all required documents as soon as possible.
  • Only fully admissible upper-division transfers will be admitted. Transfer applicants must have their 60 transferrable units and “Golden Four” courses completed by the end of the Fall term. (CSUEB no longer allows students to complete admission requirements the term prior to enrolling.)

Fall Quarter 2010

  • All students were encouraged to apply by Nov. 30. CSUEB is seeing unprecedented application volumes. Impacted programs (Nursing and Business) stopped accepting applications Nov. 30. All other programs will likely stop accepting transfer applications as early as Dec. 15. If you still have students considering applying to CSUEB, please tell them to do so right away.
  • Only fully admissible upper-division transfers will be admitted. Transfer applicants must have their 60 transferrable units and “Golden Four” courses completed the Spring term prior to enrolling. (CSUEB no longer allows students to complete admission requirements the term prior to enrolling.)

If you have specific questions regarding these items above, please contact the Cal State East Bay counselor who visits your campus or e-mail admissioncounseling@csueastbay.edu.

Thank you,

CAL POLY POMONA REGARDING IMPACTION AND ADMISSION CRITERIA

1.)    Are we an impacted campus?

Yes, we are impacted for transfer students.  Information is available at:

http://dsa.csupomona.edu/admissions/ftt_impaction.asp?setactive=page

2.)    What majors are impacted?

Architecture, Animal Science and Animal Health Science, Civil and Mechanical Engineering are all impacted for transfer students. Information is at:

http://dsa.csupomona.edu/admissions/impacted_programs.asp?setactive=page

3.)    What institutions are included in Tier 1?

Mt. San Antonio Community College and Citrus College.  That information is listed under the “Transfer Impaction” section of our department website as well. (Citrus College was just updated as a Tier 1 school and the website will reflect that shortly).

4.)    What is the difference between the Tiers?

Tier 1 include two of our local area community colleges that are in our region of service.

5.)    What is the admission criteria for institutions who are not part of Tier 1? (e.g. GPA)

The GPA for Tier 2 campus’s will be set after all applications have been submitted and we have a chance to analyze the data. Estimation is that decisions will be made after the first of the year and students will be begin to be notified in February.

Here is additional information from our Transfer Impaction website:

What is the admission process?

Cal Poly Pomona will use supplemental criteria to admit transfers.  All transfer applicants must apply during the initial filing period.  A GPA will be calculated for transfers who are requested to submit initial transcripts from all institutions attended.

Cal Poly Pomona will continue to admit all fully CSU eligible transfer applicants in Cal Poly Pomona’s local service area on the basis of CSU admission eligibility criteria.  All other transfer applicants will be rank-ordered by GPA.  The academic characteristics of the transfer applicant pool will determine the GPA cut-off and may vary from year to year.

Approximately 15 percent of the transfer class may be admitted based on a rank-ordered GPA and additional characteristics, which include socioeconomic or educational factors, space availability in a unique program or major, indications of overcoming educational obstacles, or exceptional talents.

All CSU subject matter requirements must be complete, in progress, or planned to be completed with a “C” or better and may not be completed during the summer term immediately preceding fall enrollment.

What are the minimum requirements for consideration?

The following requirements must be completed by all transfer applicants.

  • CSU minimum GPA and subject requirements have been achieved.

CSU LONG BEACH TRANSFER GPA INFORMATION

Due to the California budget crises, enrollment will continue to be severely restricted for Fall 2010. As a result, CSULB does not encourage applicants with a transfer GPA less than 2.5 to apply unless they are applying to non-impacted programs and are from one of our local designated community colleges (Long Beach City College, Orange Coast College, Golden West College and Coastline Community College). The information provided below is based on the Fall 2009 admission cycle. It is intended to assist students and counselors as they consider applying to CSULB. We encourage all applicants to have a back-up plan should they not be offered admission to CSULB. Please refer to the Transfers page for details on application and other admission requirements, procedures, and deadlines.

Mission Viejo, CA – Chapman University College Chancellor Gary Brahm, Saddleback College President Tod A. Burnett, and faculty, staff, and administrators from both colleges attended a formal signing of an Early Advantage Partnership (EAP) to offer enhanced cooperative academic and student services for Saddleback College students.  The EAP will provide students with access to Chapman University College’s advising services, locking in their catalog year, program evaluation, transfer credit through the use of Web Advisor, and personalized advising while attending Saddleback College.

“Saddleback College is proud to collaborate with Chapman University College in offering students additional resources to continue their higher education in Orange County,” stated Dr. Burnett.  “Combined with Saddleback College’s outstanding transfer center counselors, this partnership with Chapman University College is a win-win for our students.”

“Chapman University College establishes EAP agreements with local community colleges to provide students with a clearly defined path to pursue their higher education by giving them direct support and counseling,” said Chancellor Brahm.  “It’s reassuring for these students to know that the time they are investing in their coursework will be transferable to Chapman University College and that our counselors will guide them throughout the entire process.”

Transferable coursework at Saddleback College will be offered in the following programs: criminal justice, computer information systems, liberal studies-culture and media studies, organizational leadership, psychology, social science, legal studies, sociology, and sociology with an emphasis in social work.

Saddleback College students are eligible to apply for the program after the official transfer agreement goes into effect between Saddleback College and Chapman University College in summer 2009, and after they have completed 12 transferable units at Saddleback College with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 from all schools previously attended.  Students must attend at least one academic term/semester at Saddleback College, and transcripts from all previous colleges attended must be submitted with the application to verify GPA eligibility.

“Chapman University College is pleased to be working with Saddleback College to expand educational opportunities for students in south Orange County and the surrounding community,” said Jill Parma, director of Chapman University College’s Irvine campus.
