Fall Semester 2001
Like a blind man seeing for the first time, the LAP granted me a new outlook on life.
I see fellow campus classmates much different now. And I'm forever grateful to the LAP for the
amazing learning experience.
I went into the LAP thinking I would help and teach students how to write proper essays.
But found out very quickly that I too was learning from them. I almost felt like I was not properly tutoring because I felt I was learning so much more from the students than they were from me.
I soon asked other LAP tutors and they said the same thing. Not only did teaching strengthen
my writing, the educating process strengthened my character as well.
I want to be a teacher and the LAP provided me a brief glimpse into my future. And I can't
wait. If my teaching career is half as good as my LAP experience then I will be infinitely happy.
Most of all I Love to teach and learn, a combination which will keep me forever happy and humble.
The LAP granted me that, and I am changed because of the LAP and its students.
Plato once said, happiness is in the resolution of a task. I hope my help created happiness
and closure with student's papers because they gave me so much more in return.
