Meeting Time: To be announced
Hi, My name is Lydia Natoolo Burnam. I am the Director of Honors, Transfer and Career Technical Education for the academic year 2013-2014. I am humbled to join ASG family. I come from Uganda a beautiful country in Africa. When I came to the United States, my dream was to go to medical school, thirteen years later, that dream is becoming a reality. Through the years, my journey has evolved, I came to an awakening that many of us leave Africa and have no desire to go back because of the unchanging struggles, atrocities and the injustice that have prevailed for so many years. I have been empowered to be the change I want to see in Africa and beyond.
I am pursuing a degree in Political Science, planning to transfer to UCI for Public Health Sciences.
It is a humble privilege to be a student at Saddleback College and better yet be part of ASG. My goal for this year is to engage and encourage all students to live, learn and lead beyond their classroom. To dream for the world beyond us, and work for the world around us.
Since I grew up in a village in Uganda, I want to bring a village to Saddleback College. Using an old African Proverb, "It takes a village, to raise a child" , I would love to use this phrase and emphasize that It is going to take a collective effort of all students working together for a common good. Let's make this academic year the best school year experience at Saddleback College. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or ideas that relate to my position. With the support of our advisors, the best is yet to come!!!
