Dr. Wegenek (formerly Rezec) joined Saddleback College in September, 2004. She has served as Department Chair since her arrival. Her teaching responsibilities include teaching Research Methods, Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Introduction to Psychology. Dr. Wegenek has also served as Faculty Advisor for the Saddleback College chapter of the Psi Beta National Honor Society in Psychology and Chair of the Equity and Diversity and Ethnic Studies committees of the Academic Senate.

Prior to joining Saddleback College, Dr. Wegenek worked at the University of California San Diego for over 8 years as both a researcher and lecturer and in student advising. Dr. Wegenek participates in outreach as a regular guest lecturer for UC Irvine, UCSD, and other regional colleges and universities.

Dr. Wegenek wrote the well known psychology careers textbook  Introduction to Psychology as a Major and Career (APA Publishing, 2010). She is currently working on a research methods textbook and has become a contributing author for Psychology Today. Dr. Wegenek also recently prepared and published two Laboratory Manuals (with Virtual Lab CD) to accompany Goldstein's "Sensation and Perception" textbook (Cengage) and the Research Methods in Psychology laboratory manual, a resource for Instructors. She is a sought after discipline expert who consults in the fields of educational content, technical writing, and online education.
