Important Dates and Deadlines

January 1, 2017: Online FAFSA application for 2017-2018 is ready for student/school use.

January/February 2017: 2017-2018 FAFSA and Cal Grant GPA Verification Forms are available on the web.

January 19, 2017 : Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office begins disbursing spring financial aid funds to awarded students.

January 24 , 2017: Saddleback College Scholarship application will be available online. Check www.saddleback.edu/fao application and more information.

March 2, 2017: Cal Grant deadline for 2017 – 2018 award years. If you are a Saddleback College student and have completed the required units at Saddleback College, Saddleback College will electronically transmit your GPA. If you have multiple transcripts that have to be compiled, the Admissions & Records Office will complete this for you. Please contact the Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office for more information regarding the GPA Verification Form.

March 13, 2017: Saddleback College Scholarship Application Deadline for 2017-2018

April 3, 2017: Spring semester Return to Title IV date for those students who withdraw from all their classes prior to the 60% completion. These students must see a Financial Aid Specialist prior to their withdrawal from all courses – they may have to return funds that have been disbursed

April 28, 2017: Recommended deadline for applicants to submit all documentation requirements to the Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office (to be considered for Spring 2017 and/or Summer 2017 Pell Grant).

May 7, 2017: Last day to submit a Loan Request Form to the Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office in order to receive loan funds for the 2016-2017 award year

May 17, 2017: Last day to submit a completed FAFSA application to receive funding for the 2016-2017 award year.

April/May 2017: Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office begins processing financial aid files for the 2017-2018 academic year.

July 1
, 2017: Priority awarding date given to applicants who have filed the FAFSA application by March 2 and have a complete financial aid file

July 03, 2017: 2018-2019 Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver applications are available on the website for the upcoming academic year.

August 24, 2017: Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office begins disbursing fall financial aid funds to awarded students.

September 2, 2017: Additional community college awards for Cal Grant deadline for 2017 – 2018 academic year. If you are a Saddleback College student and have completed the required units at Saddleback College, Saddleback College will electronically transmit your GPA. If you have multiple transcripts that have to be compiled, the Admissions & Records Office will complete this for you. GENERAL GUIDELINE FOR ALL TYPES OF AID:

Apply early, submit documentation completely filled out, as quickly as possible, and monitor your status via My Financial Aid and your email address

  • Remember you can complete your FAFSA Application online as early as October 1st each year for the subsequent award year.

BOGFW (enrollment fee waiver): recommended that students apply for and receive approval prior to registering for classes.

The annual Saddleback College application for scholarships is generally available mid December and due in March. Attend a scholarship workshop for more information (scholarship workshops)

Check online regularly for news updates and announcements. Make sure you are checking your school provided email account and "My Financial Aid" regularly.
