From Foster to PhD-Empowering Youth to Succeed in Life and School!

This class features Dr. Danisha Keating, former foster youth who as a single adult college student cared for her 5 siblings and earned her PhD. She will share her personal story of how she earned her college degrees despite many challenges, setbacks and a system that often did not believe she could succeed in life.

She will share her experience, strength and hope to inspire caregivers and:

  • Explain how foster parents can support their foster children at different stages of their lives to pursue higher education.
  • Describe common barriers/challenges they may face and how to address those.
  • Understand myths that foster youth face concerning their ability to succeed.
