Began working in Lapidary in 1974 and developed skills in both Silver Smithing and Lapidary as a result of the interest developed watching my father become one of the top artists in the country in the field of Intarsia/Commesso.

Spent several year working at developing new techniques in the Lapidary craft and Intarsia/Commeso Fine Art form. Created a number of pictures that have won top awards in both local and national competitions at various shows sponsored by the Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

The illness of Russ Hind, who taught these subjects for the Emeritus Division, led me to take over his classes in 1994 and since then I have been involved in keeping the "Grundke" name associated with the Fine Art of Intarsia/Commesso.

In the past I had been deeply involved in Mountaineering, Soccer and Tennis for my physical exercise. Currently my classes, and a position on our Home Owners Association Board of Directors, has limited my  physical activity and I now get most of my enjoyment out of the work that is done by the classes that I teach and my students works.
