The Saddleback College Dance Department offers a Dance Associate of Arts.
In the dance department there are several technique classes, with sections at all levels:
- Level 1
These technique classes include; Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, African, Latin and Social Dance.
In addition, courses are offered in History of Dance, Rehearsal and Performance, Dance Production, Site Specific Performance, Multicultural Dance History in the United States, Dance Pedagogy, Choreography and Choreography II.
Training is supplemented with courses like Yoga for Dancers, Mat Pilates, and Exercise for Dancers, and many of our students also choose to complete the 200-Hour Yoga Certification (this is a Yoga Alliance-recognized training) offered through the Kinesiology Division.
Mainstage dance concerts are presented each semester in the beautiful McKinney Theatre on our campus. The fall semester features faculty choreography in the WinterDance Concert, and the spring semester celebrates student choreography in the Dance Collective Concert. In addition, the dance department offers additional performance opportunities and interdisciplinary projects throughout the year, both on-campus and throughout the community!

The Dance Department is thrilled with the success of our Fall 2020 virtual production, Signals & Circuits, and is looking forward to presenting a concert series of screendance works by student, guest artist and faculty choreographers in Spring 2021! Interested students shoudl enroll in DANC 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 or 16, and contact Deidre Cavazzi ( email@example.com ) for more information. Students are eligible to choreograph if they have completed Choreography (DANC 9), and we are also looking for lots of students in different dance genres to be part of screendance pieces; all rehearsals will be held over Zoom, and some pieces may have live filming components.
