The Saddleback College Dance Department offers an Associates of Arts Degree.
In the dance department there are several technique classes, with sections at all levels:
- Level 1
These technique classes include; Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, African, Latin and Social Dance.
In addition, courses are offered in History of Dance, Rehearsal and Performance, Dance Production, Site Specific Performance, Multicultural Dance History in the United States, Dance Pedagogy, Choreography and Choreography II.
Training is supplemented with courses like Yoga for Dancers, Mat Pilates, and Exercise for Dancers, and many of our students also choose to complete the 200-Hour Yoga Certification (this is a Yoga Alliance-recognized training) offered through the Kinesiology Division.
Mainstage dance concerts are presented each semester in the beautiful McKinney Theatre on our campus. The fall semester features faculty choreography in the WinterDance Concert, and the spring semester celebrates student choreography in the Dance Collective Concert. In addition, the dance department offers additional performance opportunities and interdisciplinary projects throughout the year, both on-campus and throughout the community!

Summer Livestream Arts Series (June - August 2020)
Join us this summer through the Saddleback Arts FB page for our livestream events every Thursday at 5 PM! The Dance Department is thrilled to be included, with Steve Rosa speaking about the history of salsa dance and giving a demo (you can join from your living rooms!) and Deidre Cavazzi talking about the process of choreography and sharing some recent student video choreography pieces.
Fall 2020 Auditions: Digital Dance Project
The Dance Department is excited to create a full-length digital dance production this fall, exploring new ways of rehearsing and working with students to premiere new works! Students interested in auditioning should email a 1-2 min audition video link to Deidre Cavazzi, Dance Department Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org by August 30. Selected students will be required to enroll in DANC 17 (1 unit), and will have ensemble rehearsals over ConferZoom Fridays 10 AM - 12, as well as potential solo rehearsals and campus filming dates. More information will be released soon about livestreaming dates for the premiere later in the semester!
