SP 1 - COMMUNICATION FUNDAMENTALS
Units: 3
Acquisition of communication skills including research, organization, evidence, and presentation of ideas in informative and persuasive contexts. Platform speaking experience will be required.

SP 2 - PERSUASION
Units: 3
Focuses on persuasive techniques used in areas such as advertising, politics and sales. Persuasive claims are developed through written outlines, manuscripts and essays prior to presentation of speeches.

SP 3 - ARGUMENTATION AND DEBATE
Units: 3
Students learn to create, research, analyze, present, defend and criticize arguments as they occur in all facets of public/personal situations.

SP 5 - INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION
Units: 3
Focuses on the dynamics of communication in one to one situations, including study of self concept, relationships, perception, listening, verbal and non-verbal communication.

SP 8 - GENDER COMMUNICATION
Units: 3
He said; she said! This course will examine how the sexes communicate with and without words and explore effective techniques for listening and communicating. Men and women welcome.

SP 20 - INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION
Units: 3
To familiarize students with the process of communicating with people from a variety of cultures. Interaction in various contexts such as interpersonal relationships, small groups, working environments will be analyzed and explored.

SP 32 - INTERPRETERS' THEATRE
Units: 3
Focuses on the compilation, adaptation and staging of literary materials. Culminates in group performance. Students are limited to a combined total of four enrollments in SP 30 and SP 32.

Emphasis on college sponsored speech and forensic activities. Requires previous speech experience. Open entry/open exit.
