I am fortunate that I love what I do. I am grateful to my students for the exhilarating teaching experience they give to me. They keep me grounded, and they inspire me. It is an honor to be a part of their lives momentarily.

Farida is a design educator with a unique background. With a lifelong passion for the arts, architecture, and design, she made a significant career change moving from the fundamental research science to design to pursue her artistic calling. She worked as a graphic and interior designer in Russia and the US, specializing in “urban,” residential, and tenant improvement design. Her experience has allowed her to collaborate with talented designers, stylists, photographers, and other creative professionals. Trained at the prestigious Russian technological school, a researcher with a Master’s degree in Physics and Applied Math, she expanded her education at Cal Poly Pomona/ UCLA Extension, adding the second Master’s degree in Interior Architecture.

In addition to her design practice, Farida has been teaching at the Saddleback Interior Design department from summer 2011 as an adjunct instructor. In 2016-2018 she coordinated the Interior Design program and taught full-time at San Diego Mesa College. Beginning August 2018, she is a full-time faculty at the Interior Design department at Saddleback, teaching a wide variety of interior design courses, including computer classes and design studios. In addition, she is the advisor for the Interior Design Club that serves as a student campus chapter of the professional Interior Design organizations: ASID, IIDA, and NKBA. Her students have won national and local interior design competitions.
