Previous Exhibitions:
Saddleback College Art Gallery presents Two Birds; One Stone, a collection of works by artist duo, RoCoCo.
The collaborative works by Bay Area artists Dr. KC Rosenberg and Modesto Covarrubias are, in many ways, conversations and exchanges of ideas between the two artists made tangible and tactile. The artists intentionally blur the lines of authorship in the art objects they create, at times passing them back and forth (as they did during the lockdown of the pandemic) and working together in each other’s studios to complete pieces. Both are mutually drawn to the ability of materials to transform and reassign meaning, not just in their assembly, but also in the space they occupy. Physical manifestations of forgiveness, expressing the anxieties of gentrification, or highlighting the way certain groups are systematically silenced are just some of the topics expressed in the work.

Saddleback College Art Gallery in collaboration with the Recology Artist in Residence (AIR) Program is excited to announce Recalled to Nature, a virtual exhibition celebrating 30 years of artworks from this unique program where art is produced from discarded materials collected at the Recology San Francisco Transfer Station (“the dump”). The Recology AIR Program, founded by artist Jo Hansen in 1990, is dedicated to raising awareness around recycling and conserving our natural resources while promoting new ways of thinking about art and the environment.
Special thanks to the students in ARTH100: Art Gallery Display & Exhibition, who helped shape the exhibition and to student Sam Glaraga in particular for creating the show title.
