Students completing the Saddleback College Honors Program enjoy enhanced transfer consideration and/or other benefits at the partner campus. Our partnerships differ widely, as might be expected because of the diversity of our partner schools. Partnerships may include guaranteed or priority acceptance consideration, special scholarships, housing priority, pre-transfer library privileges, recognition of honors program completion as an indicator of academic rigor, and a range of other academic, cultural, and social benefits.
We work actively with the Honors Transfer Council of California to increase and strengthen our transfer partnerships. We are eager to work with colleges and universities who welcome and support excellent transfer students.
Some of our partnerships are "honors-to-honors." That is, the partnership is with the honors program of the college or university rather than the school itself. This is true in particular for all California State Universities, but does include some private institutions as well. These partnerships, which go into effect only if and after a student is admitted to the university, are indicated below by italicized text and the label "H2H."
Partnerships may also involve or exclude departments within the institution. For example, the UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) is with UCLA College only: it does not include the special "Schools" (Film & Television, Arts & Architecture, Engineering, Music, Public Affairs, or Nursing). As another example, our partnership with the University of Michigan applies only to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and not with any of their specialty divisions. The most usual exclusion overall is in cases where auditions or portfolios are a significant part of the admissions process.
The breadth and detail of these agreements are part of the reason Certificate-Track Honors Program students are required to meet with an Honors Counselor in the Transfer Center at least once per semester.
