30 Years of Art from the Recology Artist in Residence Program
The upcoming virtual exhibition and panel discussion celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Artist in Residence (AIR) Program at Recology San Francisco. The Recology AIR program is a unique art and education program that provides Bay Area artists with access to discarded materials, a stipend, and a large studio space at Recology San Francisco Transfer Station. Since its founding by artist Jo Hansen in 1990, over 145 professional artists and 40 university student artists have completed residencies, making art from discarded materials. Recalled to Nature celebrates the varied artworks of the last 30 years and the mission of the AIR program at Recology to encourage people to conserve natural resources and promote new ways of thinking about art and the environment.
