The Saddleback College student-run Pre-Law Society and the Associated Student Government will be hosting a candidate forum on Wednesday, September 26 from 11:30 am to 2:15 pm in the McKinney Theatre. The forum will feature candidates who will be on the ballot for the U.S. House of Representatives, Attorney General, California State Senate, California State Assembly, and more.
The non-partisan forum will provide students and members of the community an opportunity to hear from the candidates prior to the upcoming elections. Representatives from all political parties have been invited to participate.
“Student debt, gun violence, environmental concerns, health care, and so much are on the table moving forward and our students are seeking to have their voices heard. Voting is their best chance at influencing how these issues are addressed – and they know it,” said Emily Quinlan, professor of business and faculty advisor to the Saddleback College Pre-Law Society.
The following candidates are confirmed to participate:
Judge Steven Bailey (California Attorney General)
Katie Porter (45th Congressional District)
Mike Levin (49th Congressional District)
Marggie Castellano (36th Senate District)
Scott Rhinehart (73rd Assembly District)
Cottie Petrie-Norris (74th Assembly District)
Matthew Harper (74th Assembly District)
The forum is being hosted in partnership with the League of Women Voters of California and the American Association of University Women.
