Please join us on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 12 pm in SSC 212 for the first One Book, One College event as Dr. Lisa Schenitzki leads a TED Talk and discussion on substance use disorders and the social perceptions of those suffering from addiction. As David Sheff explains in Beautiful Boy, “Addiction is an equal-opportunity affliction – affecting people without regard to their economic circumstance, their education, their race, their geography, their IQ, or any other factor” (pg. 178). And yet the image of those suffering from addiction in the public narrative often does not reflect this.
