Join us for the opening reception of the exhibit, Two Birds; One Stone, by Bay Area artists K CRosenberg and Modesto Covarrubias, on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm in the Art Gallery. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended. Click here to reserve a free ticket.
The collaborative works by the two artists are, in many ways, conversations and exchanges of ideas between the two artists made tangible and tactile. The artists intentionally blur the lines of authorship in the art objects they create, sometimes passing them back and forth (as they did during the lockdown of the pandemic) and sometimes working together in each other’s studios to complete pieces. Both are mutually drawn to the ability of materials to transform and reassign meaning, not just in their assembly, but also in the space they occupy. Physical manifestations of forgiveness, expressing the anxieties of gentrification, or highlighting the way certain groups are systematically silenced are just some of the topics expressed in the work.
The exhibit will be on display in the Art Gallery from Friday, September 17 through Friday, November 12, 2021. Gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12 to 5 pm. The Art Gallery is located in the Fine Arts Complex, room FA 201. Click here for a map view of the Art Gallery.
