Sociology in the Community

All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join the Sociology Department & Aging Studies Program for a virtual event titled, Sociology in the Community, on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 1:30 to 2:45 pm that will feature a guest speaker, several organizations in the community, as well as ways to get involved on campus. Dr. Stephanie D’Auria, Sociology Professor at Saddleback College and Vanguard University, will begin the event by speaking about civic engagement and the benefits of community service/service learning both personally and for college applications and jobs. The following organizations will then share a brief overview of services they provide, as well as any opportunities for jobs, internships and/or service learning: Laura’s House, Age Well Senior Services, South County Outreach, and Second Harvest Food Bank. Finally, information about Saddleback’s Student Mentorship Program and Career Placement Services will be presented to help students connect with campus resources.
