Over $700,000 in Scholarships to be Awarded to 400 Students at Saddleback College Scholarship Ceremony

Mission Viejo, CA – Over $700,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 400 Saddleback College students at the 39th Annual Scholarship Ceremony to be held on Friday, May 15th at 3:00 pm in the Saddleback College Gymnasium. The scholarships were donated by business, organizations, and community members; additionally the Saddleback College Associated Student Government donated $40,000 for scholarships.
The ceremony will also feature speeches from four scholarship recipients. Presenting will be Kamran Sadaghiani, a student and active military member; Jacqueline and Deanna Smerdel, a mother-daughter duo who took courses together and are now transferring together to a four-year university; Min Kim, who continues to pursue her education despite significant financial challenges and Michelle Brough, Esq. 
Dr. Tod A. Burnett, president of Saddleback College, stated, “I congratulate all of the students who have been awarded a scholarship for their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership, and talent. The generosity of our donors make the entire event possible, and I thank them for their support of Saddleback College and our students, who benefit greatly from their kindness.”
Also being recognized are the San Clemente Men’s Golf Club, Organization Donor of the Year, and Donald Greenspan, Individual Donor of the Year.
The Saddleback College Scholarship Ceremony is an annual event that started in 1976, when 45 donors contributed just over $12,000 to some 60 students. Since then, the foundation has awarded more than $4.8 million in scholarships to deserving Saddleback College students.
