One Book, One College is proud to announce our participation in the Book-to-Action program. This program was developed by the California State Library and the California Center for the Book. Book-to-Action builds on the traditional book club concept, but in addition to providing an opportunity to collectively read and discuss a book, Book-to-Action enables readers to put their new-found knowledge into action by engaging in a community service project related to the book's topic.

This year, we will be working with the Committee for Culturally-Responsive Teaching & Learning on understanding with more empathy how poverty affects students' lives. CCRTL will be hosting a poverty simulation for faculty. In addition, students will be asked to volunteer with South County Outreach, a local organization dedicated to preventing hunger and homelessness in our region. More details will come soon.

Please reach out to Alicia Zach at if you are interested in joining these efforts.
