Special Benefits for Child Development Majors

Child Development Book Loan Program

Child Development Majors who are currently working in the field with children ages 0-5 are eligible for a text book loan for the duration of their course.

  • Book requests are due no later than 2 WEEKS PRIOR to start date of class.
  • Forms that are incomplete or late will not be processed.
  • Books must be returned the last day of class to BGS 314.
Alert: Non-return of book loans will result in an incomplete grade and a fee of $100 per book payable to the CDE Dept.

Tuition Reimbursement for Child Development Majors

The Child Development Training Consortium is a federal block grant funded program that provides funding to reimburse at least partial tuition costs for Child Development students at Saddleback College.

  • Note: This reimbursement does not interfere with or prevent access to other financial aid funds.
  • Note: If you attend other colleges, even IVC,  during the same semester, you must submit a separate application to each college.

Instructions to Determine Eligibility and Complete Application Process

  1. Determine if you are eligible. You must be able to answer “yes” to both of the questions below.
    1. Are taking courses at Saddleback that could apply to any level of the Child Development Permit? Child Development Permit Matrix
      This includes both Child Development and General Education Courses.
    2. Are you currently working in California with children ages 0-5 for 15 or more hours per week in a licensed or license exempt setting in one of the roles below?
      Child Center Staff, Family Childcare, and Before/After School Care, and Transitional Kindergarten teachers only –Nannies are not eligible at this time
  2. If you answered “yes” to both questions, you are eligible. 
  3. Complete the Student Profile Application. Use the the link below to go to the CDTC webpage, once on the CDTC page, you will see "CDTC Campus Students" in gold boxes on the right side of the screen. The application is linked in blue in that same box.  CLICK HERE to go to the CDTC web page
  4. Print the completed application, sign and get your employer's signatures
  5. Scan and attach to an email to June Millovich jmillovich@saddleback.edu

Due Dates:

Fall Application Due Date October 31st

  • Grade and Documentation Due Date January 19th 2016

Spring Application Due Date March 31st

  • Grade and Evaluation Documentation Due Date June 7th 2016

Funding is not available for Summer Classes
