M.A. in English (Rhetoric & Composition),California State University Long Beach
B.A. in English, San Francisco State University
I joined Saddleback College in 2011 and have taught English 1A and 1B. I have also taught courses in freshman composition, advanced argumentation, and technical communications at CSULB.
Teaching is a 2nd career for me. Previously, I had a challenging career working with computers and networking that included traveling all over the United States and to Japan and Europe. I incorporate my technical knowledge in every class I teach.
I have lived most of my life in Virginia, where I was very involved in my community, including creating an organization to preserve wetlands and bringing the California-based Surfers Healing event, a surf camp for children with autism, to Virginia Beach.
During all aspects of my life, I never stopped using the writing skills I acquired as an undergraduate. I came to appreciate how the ability to write with confidence helped me be successful in my career and in my personal and community activities. I am excited to be helping students prepare for a lifetime of successful writing.
