I am a product of Community College, and I am where I am in life and my career because of the wonderful experiences I had at Fullerton College. After receiving my AA in Liberal Arts, I continued my studies and received a BA in Psychology and an MS in Education with a concentration in Reading from California State University, Fullerton. After receiving a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, I spent twelve years as an elementary school teacher before joining the Reading staff at Saddleback. When I first began working in the Academic Reading Center at Saddleback, I especially loved working with students who were learning English as a second language, so I continued my education at UCI where I received a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. Currently, I teach in the Reading department and The English as a Second Language department. I love my job! I enjoy working with students, and sharing my passion for reading, writing, and learning. My interests outside of school, include gardening, yoga, cooking, and music.
I will be a Faculty Tutorial Specialist in the Tutoring Center this Spring Semester. I will be in the Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11am - 3pm. I will be on the tutoring schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-12:30 and 12:30-1:00. Please stop by if you'd like to set up an appointment for tutoring! Please stop by to say hello, and let me know how I can support your learning this semester!
If you are interested in an advanced level ESL class you should look into taking ESL 354, Advanced Vocabulary. The class focuses on learning new academic vocabulary through the context of reading a variety of texts, and writing in response to what is read. I have been teaching this class every semester for the last couple of years. I will be teaching this class this Spring 2017. I love teaching this class!
Please let me know if I can help you in any way as you follow your journey as a student here at Saddleback College. I wish you much success!
