The Saddleback College Windows 10 project will deliver the most up-to-date Microsoft desktop operating system to all managed workstations across the campus, including staff offices. The W10 rollout starts with faculty and classroom computing facilities and is expected to complete at the end of March 2019.
Once complete, we will then shift our focus to upgrading all staff computers and remaining classroom labs to Windows 10 starting in the summer of 2019. Per the Saddleback College Technology Master Plan, staff will receive new computers which will include the most current Intel processor and chip set.
Each college workstation will have a standard configuration incorporating the most common software. Faculty and staff computers can have additional software but must be approved by the Dean of the Department and by the Director of Saddleback College Technology Services and Broadcast Systems.
7 REASONS TO UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10
- Windows 7 is End of Life – Microsoft stopping support in 2020
- Last version of Windows – Microsoft has no plans for Windows 11 or beyond
- Speed – Faster boot-up and performance
- Enhanced Security – Ransomware prevention and strong Malware security tools
- Faster and Safer Web Browsing
- Faster, more efficient updates
- Compatibility – Hardware and software companies will only develop products for Windows 10
