The California College Promise Grant - CCPG- (formerly known as the Board of Governors Fee Waiver) waives your course enrollment fee ($46/unit) if you are a California resident or eligible for AB540 status, and if one of the following conditions applies to you when you enroll:
- You have met the minimum pre-determined financial need amount based on your FAFSA/Dream Act Application for the award year you are applying.
- Your household income is below the maximum income limit standards for your household size.
- You or your parent(s) are receiving TANF/Cal WORKS benefits, SSI or General Assistance at the time that you apply for the CCPG. You will be required to provide documentation to show participation in one of these programs.
- You qualify according to one of these groups:
- Eligible dependent of deceased or disabled veteran
- Recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor or dependent
- Dependent of California National Guard
- Dependent of victim of September 11, 2001 terrorist attack
- Dependent of deceased California law enforcement/fire suppression personnel killed in the line of duty
How to stay eligible
Students who qualify for the California College Promise Grant (CCPG), must meet the below academic and progress standards in order to remain eligible for CCPG.
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
- If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 for two consecutive primary terms (Fall/Spring semesters, or Fall/Winter/Spring quarters), you may lose your CCPG eligibility.
- Complete more than 50% of coursework
- If the cumulative number of units you complete is not more than 50% in two consecutive primary terms (Fall/Spring semesters, or Fall/Winter/Spring quarters), you may lose your CCPG eligibility.
- Combination of Academic and Progress Standards
- Any combination of two consecutive terms of cumulative GPA below 2.0, and/or cumulative unit completion of not more than 50% will result in loss of CCPG eligibility.
How to regain eligibility
Students who lose their CCPG eligibility due to not meeting Academic and Progress Standards may consider regaining eligibility through the appeal process with Admissions & Records.
CCPG Application
In order to maximize the financial aid resources available, students are encouraged to apply for the CCPG each year using the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application. There are some instances that a student may not wish to or be unable to apply using the FAFSA or California Dream Act in which case a CCPG Application may be completed for consideration of the grant. English and Spanish versions of the application are below. Please be advised that you may be asked to provide additional documentation to support the information on your application.
