The mission of the Saddleback College Emeritus Institute is to promote lifelong learning by providing academically rigorous, mentally stimulating, socially engaging, and health improving courses for older adults throughout South Orange County.

Search tips for Emeritus classes:
- To know if a class meets "In-Person" and/or "Online" check its LOCATION.
- In the Search Bar, type an instructor, facility name, course discipline, etc.
- All Emeritus classes begin with "E" (EART = Emeritus Art, EPHO = Emeritus Photo).
Apply and Register for Classes Online
Step 1: Apply Online
We've made your first step to join the Saddleback College Emeritus Institute easy:
Simply complete our online application and you'll be admitted or readmitted within 1-2 weeks. For an update on the status of your application, call (949) 582-4555 x 0.
Step 2: Register for Classes Online
Please follow these 7 steps to register for classes online:
- Find your courses
- From the Emeritus Institute class schedule, write down the 5-digit ticket numbers of the desired classes. For the most current schedule, visit the Class Schedule page.

- Login to apps.saddleback.edu
- Use your Internet browser to go to apps.saddleback.edu. Use your college email address and password to login. On the "Apps" screen, click the MySITE icon.

- Add / Drop Classes
- On the red bar at top, click MY CLASSES, then click ADD/DROP CLASSES on the drop-down menu. Select the semester tab you're applying for, then click ADD/DROP CLASSES at bottom left. Click NEXT.

- Update Student Records
- Answer all required fields that have a red asterisk (*). Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to answer questions. Click NEXT.
- Tips:
- If the system won't allow you to move forward:
- Scroll to the top of the page to read the red message that tells you the missed question(s). Correct any missed questions.
- The most frequently missed questions are:
- CELL PHONE: Enter your cell phone number OR select No Mobile Phone.
- VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION (VETA): Check pertinent boxes OR None of the Above.
- ELECTRONIC 1098T TAX INFORMATION: (Social Security Number Question)
- If your Social Security Number is correctly displayed, select YES.
- If your Social Security Number is NOT DISPLAYED, select DECLINE or print the W-95 form by
clicking the link at the bottom and mail to: District Fiscal Services, Saddleback College
28000 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA 92692 - If your Social Security Number is incorrectly displayed, submit the form above.
- If the system won't allow you to move forward:
- Add a Class / Add from Waitlist
- Enter the 5-digit class ticket number, then click ADD CLASS. After entering all ticket numbers, click NEXT.
- NOTE: If a class is full, a pop-up will ask if you want to be added to the waitlist. If you do, click YES. If you’re notified a seat is available, enroll immediately by following these registration steps again and enter the class ticket number AND the the 4-digit APC (Add Permit Code) in the APC Box.
- Optional Fees
- Select NO on any optional fees you don’t want to pay. Click NEXT.
- NOTE: If you’re taking an Emeritus Institute class that meets on campus, the Health Fee is mandatory.
- Refund Policy and Confirmation
- Select YES to accept the "Refund Policy." At bottom right, click COMPLETE REGISTRATION. The last page will state REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION at the top. Scroll down to confirm your classes are listed under "Completed Enrollment Actions." Print your confirmation. Be sure to log out by clicking the profile icon at top right.

Canvas for Online Classes
Emeritus Institute classes are held online and in-person on scheduled days and times.
In-person learning is located at various South Orange County locations. Please see the class schedule linked near the top of the page.
Online learning uses an online platform called Canvas. Student will use their student email address and password to log in the program. To learn more, view the CANVAS guide.
