Sustaining a Supportive Ecosystem through Local, State, and Federal Advocacy

Creating and sustaining an ecosystem that supports undocumented students is a year-long commitment that requires the authentic collaboration between faculty, staff, administrators, and partners. This webinar will include an overview of the various forms of on-campus and off-campus advocacy. Presenters will also offer a framework for how campus leaders can engage in undocumented student advocacy at their local campus, and the importance of state and federal policies that eliminate barriers, prioritize affordability and access, and create the conditions for unconditional belonging and ultimately – student success.

Saddleback’s Financial Aid Specialist and CA Dream Act liaison, Benny Rivas, will share information on the CA Dream Act and our Dream Act Service Incentive grant that provides funding opportunities to undocumented students for performing community/volunteer services.

Free Adult Education and Department Support for Our Undocumented student Population

Join us to learn what the Adult Education program at Saddleback College offers, such as free, open-entry, non-credit classes, multilingual support services and providing a safe space for undocumented students. Class offerings include: Adult English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency (Available in English & Spanish), and OASIS/Adults with Disabilities. Come hear all about our program, how students take advantage of this path to work on residency requirements to meet AB-540 eligibility and how they work collaboratively with the undocu services team!

Join us for this session with UndocuProfessionals founder, Sharet Garcia, as she creates a brave space for guidance on tangible information and educational & career resources for students who do not have DACA. In this space, she invites you to explore some options available for students without DACA. This will be an interactive workshop that will include questions and open conversation on topics on talking beyond DACA, self-employment opportunities, options after graduation, and up-to-date Undocuprofessionals resources available.
