About This Event
The Saddleback School of Humanities and Social Sciences Psychology Department presents "Hot Cognition: Motivated Reasoning in Relation to Health, Morality, Politics, and Science." Join us on Wednesday, April 9, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Gateway (GW) 384 or via Zoom for this presentation by Peter H. Ditto, a professor and researcher from the University of California, Irvine.
The judgments that influence the most crucial moments in our lives are rarely made without emotion. Ditto uses the term "hot cognition" to describe the passionate aspect of human judgment. In this talk, he will review three decades of research exploring how motivation, emotion, and intuition shape — and often bias — our various judgments.
