Steps for Promise Program Starting Fall 2023

  • Apply to Saddleback College
  • A Saddleback fall 2024 application will ensure that Saddleback is your College of Record and begins the process of your Promise Program eligibility.
  • October 1, 2023: the fall 2024 application opens for first-time freshman
  • A student has an active application if the application was submitted for a previous semester AND the student has taken a course at Saddleback College for fall 2023 or spring 2024.
  • Within 24 - 48 hours, students receive an email from the Saddleback Admission and Records Office titled “Saddleback College - Permit to Register.” In this email you will find your Saddleback ID number and your Resident Status.
  • Confirm that your Resident Status says “Resident.” If it reads “Non-resident,” follow the instructions to establish California residency or to request the AB540 - California resident status exemption (for undocumented/Dreamer students).
  • For US Citizens and Permanent Residents: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
  • For undocumented/ CA Dreamer students: https://dream.csac.ca.gov/
  • December 2023: the 2023 - 24 financial aid applications open
  • Add the Saddleback School Code (008918) to your application to ensure that Saddleback receives your application from FAFSA or the Dream Act websites.
  • Students do not have to qualify for financial aid to be eligible for the Full-Time Promise Program, but a financial aid application must be submitted.
  • Students must qualify for the California College Promise Grant (CCPG) to participate in the Part-Time Promise Program.
