Steps for Promise Program Starting Fall 2023
- Apply to Saddleback College
- A Saddleback fall 2023 application will ensure that Saddleback is your College of Record and begins the process of your Promise Program eligibility.
- October 1, 2022: the fall 2023 application opens for first-time freshman
- A student has an active application if the application was submitted for a previous semester AND the student has taken a course at Saddleback College for fall 2022 or spring 2023.
- Within 24 - 48 hours, students receive an email from the Saddleback Admission and Records Office titled “Saddleback College - Permit to Register.” In this email you will find your Saddleback ID number and your Resident Status.
- Confirm that your Resident Status says “Resident.” If it reads “Non-resident,” follow the instructions to establish California residency or to request the AB540 - California resident status exemption (for undocumented/Dreamer students).
- For US Citizens and Permanent Residents: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

- Before you can register for fall 2023 classes, you must complete the Matriculation Process.
- The Matriculation Process includes Online Orientation, Initial Math and English Placement, Online Advisement, and First Semester MAP. All of these requirements can be completed online.
- Registration times will be listed in your MySite account.
- You must enroll in at least 12 units to be eligible for the Promise Program.
- Including an English and/or Math course for the first semester. Both must be completed by the end of the first year
- While you may enroll in some IVC courses, the majority of your units must be taken at Saddleback.
- Students with Reduced Course Load accommodations approved through DSPS may enroll in less than 12 units. Please ask your DSPS counselor to send your accommodation plan to the Promise Program.
