Get ahead with dual enrollment at Saddleback College!

General dual enrollment is open to both K–12 students and adult learners. It provides the opportunity to take regular Saddleback College courses—either online or in person—taught by college faculty and open to the public.

Students may take up to 11 units per semester, provided they meet course prerequisites, receive the necessary approvals, and space is available.

Benefits of Dual Enrollment

  • Save on tuition – Most students can take up to 11 units per semester for free.
  • Earn college credit early – Start working toward your degree while still in high school.
  • Explore academic interests, career paths, and majors.
  • Transferable credits – Many courses transfer to UC, CSU, and other colleges.
  • Early exposure to college – Learn to navigate the college system, access student resources, and build academic skills.

Types of Dual Enrollment at Saddleback College

K–12 Student Enrollment Requirements:

  • Grades 9–12: Requires parent/guardian and principal consent
    • Parent/guardian consent is required one time for a student to enroll in Saddleback College courses (on-campus, online, or at a high school) throughout grades 9–12, unless revoked in writing.
  • Grades K–8: Requires parent, principal, and instructor approval
    • Instructor approval is sought during the Open Enrollment Registration Window, which begins after all Priority Groups have had the opportunity to register for classes.
    • If an instructor denies a K–8 student, they may try another section of the same course or choose a different course

This program is for adult learners enrolled in a high school diploma, GED, or HiSET program through an adult school. These students may take Saddleback College classes tuition-free—up to 11 units per term. They must meet course prerequisites and obtain required approvals from both the adult school and Saddleback College.

CCAP is a special part-time dual enrollment program created through agreements between Saddleback College and local high schools. It allows students in grades 9–12 to take specific college courses, often taught at their high school campus for convenience.

Courses in CCAP programs follow the same academic expectations as those taught on campus, including:

  • College-level rigor and grading standards
  • Exposure to adult learning environments and potentially sensitive topics
  • Emphasis on independent learning, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy
  • A focus on the transition from high school to college

Students can take up to 11 units per semester in a CCAP pathway, and all required textbooks and materials are provided for free.

To find out if your high school offers CCAP courses, contact your high school counselor.

Fees

  • Grades 9–12 and Adult School students: Enrollment fees are waived (excluding nonimmigrant visa holders).
  • Grades K–8: Enrollment fees apply, but nonresident fees are waived.

All students are responsible for student health fees, materials fees, parking fees (if applicable), textbooks, and supplies.

Parental consent remains valid until a student completes grade 12 unless the parent withdraws the consent to participate. Parents can withdraw consent by completing the Dual Enrollment Consent Withdrawal Form.

When communicating with college professors or staff, always use your Saddleback College email.

Once all required signatures are obtained, the form will be automatically submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records. Processing typically takes 3-5 business days from the final signature (excluding weekends and college holidays).

  • Approved courses will be assigned to the student’s account by Saddleback College Admissions staff. However, please note that assigning courses does not automatically register the student for the courses.
  • Grades 9-12 and Adult School Dual Enrolled students must complete their own registration through MySite. For more information, see Step 4 in the enrollment steps above.
  • Grades K-8 students cannot self-enroll through MySite. After approval from both the dean and instructor for each class listed on the General Dual Enrollment Form, Saddleback College will enroll them.

Once you submit an online application, you will receive an e-mail from Saddleback College (to the e-mail specified in your application) that includes your Student ID. It may take up to 24 hours to receive this email.

Classes are posted in the Class Schedule.

After successful completion of the online application, students will receive an e-mail informing them of their online MySite Registration appointment time and date. Students can log-on to MySite using their Student ID number and PIN, and register for classes on or after their appointment time.

Once a class has started or has become full, students must request permission to add the course from the instructor. If permission is given, an Add Permit Code (APC) will be issued to the student. Students are required to register for the course in MySite by the expiration date on the APC form.

Co-requisites are companion courses, required for enrollment in certain classes. Prerequisites are courses required to be successfully completed (with a grade of "A"/"B"/"C" or "P") prior to enrollment in the objective course.

Submitting the K-12 Special Admission form does not clear prerequisites. Please visit the Clearing Prerequisites webpage for procedures and requirements. If you have any questions, please call 949-582-4970.

Students who were enrolled in the prior semester/term are considered "Continuing" students and are not required to re-apply. Students who are new (first time applying at Saddleback or IVC) or have missed a semester or more, not including summer session, are considered "New or Returning" students and must submit a new application.

Registration appointment are listed in MySite under My Information and Appointments. If you do not have a registration appointment listed in MySite, the admissions office may not have assigned appointments yet (appointments are assigned roughly 3 weeks before the term starts); you may need to complete Matriculation testing; or you may need to submit a new Application for Admission.

It is highly recommended to submit your High School or other college transcripts to Saddleback College.

Please see the information here for directions on how to send transcripts to Admissions & Records

If you are trying to receive clearance for Math or English courses, students should submit the transcripts to the Matriculation Office. Students may use unofficial transcripts for Math or English clearance.

  • Visit the Class Schedule for the appropriate term
  • Search for the course in the search bar using the course title or ticket number.
  • Prerequisites and co-requisites are listed under the course title

If you wish to take classes at Irvine Valley College, you will need to submit their separate IVC K-12 Special Admission form to their campus: however, you only need to complete only one application to take classes at either campus.

As required by state law, K-12 students will receive a low priority registration time so as to not displace regularly admitted students.

IMPORTANT: The pre-enrollment process may take up to 5 business days to complete.
