Welcome to Saddleback College!

The Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) department is proud to offer College Access and Preparation (CAP) an orientation process specifically designed to support high school seniors with disabilities in their transition to college. This includes students who have received services such as Special Education/IEPs, RSP, 504 Plans, Directed Services, and/or Modified Classes.

The primary goal of College Access and Preparation is to ensure that students are well-prepared for their first semester at Saddleback College, including eligibility for priority registration in May, with their academic accommodations in place.

We are committed to helping students feel confident and supported as they begin their college journey.

To apply for services, follow steps outlined on the DSPS homepage.

DSPS Application Timeline

We are committed to reviewing all DSPS applications as promptly as possible. There is no deadline date to request DSPS services. Students are strongly encouraged to apply and submit verification of disability documentation well in advance before the start of a semester to ensure that accommodations are in place by the first day of class.

Review Process

  • Applications are thoroughly evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • The review process may take up to two weeks.
  • Appointment availability may be limited during high-demand periods.

After Review

  • Applicants will be contacted to schedule an appointment with a DSPS Counselor.
    • Students are expected to serve as the primary point of contact with DSPS and schedule their own appointments. Students must be present at all DSPS appointments, but support persons are welcome to attend with the student’s consent.
  • The Counselor will discuss and determine appropriate accommodations and support services.
