Jonathan McHugh

I’m excited to get to know you and help you grow as an artist! I love creating and teaching all forms of painting and drawing, as well as hiking, camping, playing guitar and keyboards, and reading sci-fi and fantasy books. I paint and draw landscapes and figures using watercolor, oil paint, and drawing materials, as well as layered mixed media on collaged paper.

I studied Art Education at Colorado State University and taught high school art for several years before pursuing a career as an artist and postsecondary educator. In 2025 I earned my MFA in Painting at Laguna College of Art and Design, and my artwork has recently been recognized by Southwest Art, Realism Today, Plein Air Salon, American Watercolor, the Terry Masters Memorial Scholarship, and the Pacific Art Foundation.
