Biography

As a Part Time Faculty Member at Saddleback College, I ignite students' curiosity about the History of Architecture by weaving together the stories of design innovation, cultural shifts, and the human spirit behind iconic structures — from ancient wonders to modern marvels. My classroom is a space where students discover how buildings aren't just bricks and mortar, but reflections of society's triumphs and challenges, drawing on my three decades of real-world experience and extensive international travels to many of the ancient historical and architectural sites covered in class — to make my classes vivid and relatable.

Professional Experience:

  • Architectural Services Consultant at Allegion (2018–present), specializing in door hardware specifications and consulting services.
  • Active member in local chapters of both the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Specifiers Institute to stay at the forefront of industry standards and networking.
  • Cofounder and Partner at HutchBell Sales & Marketing (1995–2001), marketing construction hardware at scale and solving design challenges.
  • Sales Representative for CorbinRusswin Architectural Hardware (1987–1995), awarded National Salesman of the Year.

Community Service and Creative Pursuits:

  • I completed the Irvine Community Police Academy and remain an active volunteer with the Irvine Police Department, supporting public safety initiatives that align with architectural security principles.
  • Volunteer with the Irvine Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for disaster preparedness, including fire safety and search and rescue; completed Shelter Operations training with the American Red Cross in Orange County for disaster relief.
  • Served as Player-Manager in the City of Irvine Men's Adult Softball Program, leading our team to consecutive championship seasons.
  • Self-published the children's book “Luno Finds a Home” (2017).
  • Postgraduate volunteer work in Taiwan, Republic of China, building global perspectives.

At Saddleback College, I invite students to explore the world around them and discover their place in history and society by contemplating the built environments of the past and present —   awakening a deeper appreciation for our shared human story.
