Spring 2024 Week of Workshops

Saddleback students, join us for our Week of Workshops (WOW) from Tuesday, January 9 through Friday, January 12 and kick off your semester with SUCCESS!

Workshops are scheduled in-person and online throughout the day. All students are welcome!

Workshops are facilitated by Saddleback faculty and staff to help you have the most successful semester possible.

Want to work on campus? There are different types of on campus opportunities for students that can help you gain experience, learn professional skills, and prepare for future employment. Join us to learn about where to find these opportunities (including Federal Work Study, FWS) and how you can apply successfully. This webinar does not cover academic or certificated (teaching) positions. If a better time works for your schedule, please call our office to learn how to make an account in Handshake to start searching for jobs or you can make an individual appointment over zoom or in-person.

Headed for Success: What You Need to Know for Prof. Major's Online Class

Join Professor Nicole Major as she provides strategies, her course structure, the basics of Canvas, and other pertinent information for students to feel comfortable taking her online class. She will help her students navigate Canvas and demonstrate all areas of her course in order for students to be successful from the start. This workshop is a great opportunity for students who are new to the online class environment and/or would like to become familiar with the course before it begins. Extra credit will be given for attending.

Trig Review Workshop

A review of the right triangle and unit circle definitions of the trig functions, with an emphasis on understanding these definitions so as to be able to do lots of trig with a minimal amount of memorization even if you aren't allowed a calculator.

Become a Collective Mentor

The Saddleback College Mentor Collective is a mentoring program for students who are entering or returning to college.  

Meet current mentors in the program and learn about what they do. We will discuss the flags system, do a tour of various departments to learn about different resources available to students, and show you how to sign up. Pizza and wings will be provided after the session for you to socialize and meet the mentors and staff.

Trigonometry Review

This workshop will review trigonometry using a unit circle approach. Attendees will learn how to use the unit circle to evaluate trigonometric functions as well as graph the six trigonometric functions. This is a great review for those of you planning to take Physics 2A, Physics 4A, pre-calculus, or calculus.

Preparing for Math 3C: Parametric curves
